Her doctoral units were earned at Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila. She was chosen as the Model Employee in 2010 at the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila. She retired at PLM in 2013 but she was designated as Dean of the University College, Universidad de Manila in 2014. Dr. Risa P. Asuncion is currently the Chairman of the Teacher Education Department of the College of Human Development (CHD); a faculty member of the English Department, College of Liberal Arts (CLA); Special Lecturer in the off-campus program, College of Management and Entrepreneurship (CME); and she has been a part-time lecturer in the Graduate School of Arts. Prof. Rodolfo M. Martinez, Jr. is a BS Education (major in English) cum laude graduate from the Philippine Normal University. He has taught English subjects for more than two decades in different universities and colleges. He has served as the department head in private academic institutions such as Angelicum School, STI College-Makati, and Olivarez College. Currently, serves as the chair of the English Department at the Universidad de Manila. Prof. Vicente C. Lim, Jr. is a PhD candidate in Development Education at the University of Santo Tomas, Graduate School. At present, he is connected with De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde and Universidad de Manila. "The chapters are divided into different literary genres, regardless of time, writer and nationality. The first chapter concentrates on the simple introduction of what literature is and its different forms, the different tools that the students need in reading literary pieces. Literary terms are given in Chapter 2. The purpose in giving these literary terms is to aid the students in understanding the different literary pieces. The succeeding chapters present the different literary genres including the literary pieces representing each genre. Questions and discussions are given after each literary piece or chapter."--
